How you’ll contribute: 
As a Finance Data Analyst, you’ll be responsible for collaborating on data management tasks and supporting the Derivative Accounting Team in the reporting of Brighthouse Financials' investments with a primary focus on derivative instruments. You'll be working with the Derivatives team to modify existing report processes (Excel) into more streamlined, user-friendly technology solutions (PowerBI, PowerPivot, etc). Responsibilities will include converting existing reports with sumifs/v-lookups formulas from multiple datasets into more robust data management solutions. Over time, responsibilities will shift to maintaining the processes in place and further modifying/adapting reports to accommodate stakeholder requests (front office/middle office/ALM team). This role can also expand to supporting data management within other investment asset classes (Securities, Mortgages, Alts, etc.). 
 
In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Develop dashboards and various reports in PowerBi to support the Derivative accounting team's transition from Excel/Formula driven reports to reports within PowerBi
  • Train and support other members of the derivatives team in their development of PowerBi
  • Assist management in monthly preparation and review of reconciliations 
  • Assist management in implementation of new accounting pronouncements impacting derivative data enrichment and management 
  • Support management’s initiative to expand or implement accounting for new derivative strategies
  • Prepare documentation of processes and controls associated with the hedge accounting program
  • Analyze and validate data from internal and external sources
  • Develop accurate and timely ad hoc reports
  • Analyze business critical data and recommend improvements
  • Maintain accurate, meaningful and updated technical and non-technical documentation pertaining to all aspects of responsibilities
  • Respond to questions from external and internal auditors, front office and financial reporting teams regarding qualifying derivatives, documentation & testing
  • Support investments & derivatives disclosures in the 10-K, 10-Q, QFS, and stand-alone audited financial statements on a GAAP & Statutory basis
